Moyes eyes Everton consistency

Everton boss David Moyes has called on his side to show consistency and challenge for Champions League qualification every season. Moyes feels that his side can be considered a 'big club' now, and also pointed out that they will no longer be selling any of their best young players; such as when they sold Wayne Rooney.

"I never want to be in a position again where we would have to sell a Rooney and we are at that point now," Moyes told The People

"The next time a superstar comes through - he stays.

"At the time we sold Wayne Rooney we were not in a great financial position as a football club, but we have kicked on football wise and financially.

"We are very close to making the next step - albeit this will be the hardest one and it might take another five, six years to actually make that step.

"But now that we have got so close, you would hope we would continue to follow the path of steady, gradual growth.

"It will take resolve - but Everton is a great football club and we have it back on track now. We are speeding along nicely and catch the people in front of us.

"Now we want not only to catch them but overtake them. Everton as a club now need to make that step."
