Newcastle United to make shock move for Swiss midfielder?
Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing an ambitious approach for Arsenal's Granit Xhaka when the transfer window reopens in less than two months' time.
The Switzerland international had an angry outburst towards the Gunners fans after his substitution against Crystal Palace and he has since failed to play a single minute for the north London giants.
As a result, there has been speculation that he may have played his final game for Unai Emery's side and Sky Sports News claims that he could make a shock switch to the Magpies in January.
The same outlet adds that the Magpies may use the influence of fellow Swiss defender Fabian Schar in order to convince Xhaka to make the move to St James' Park in the New Year.
Xhaka has been a regular with the Switzerland national side over the years and he will most certainly want the assurance of regular gametime in the lead up to the Euro 2020 tournament next summer.
