Napoli eye move for Tottenham defender
According to Sky Sports, Serie A club Napoli are interested in Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian centre-back is open to negotiations with the foreign clubs as he has entered into the final six months of his contract.
Napoli are considering the 32-year-old defender to be the possible alternative to their star defender Kalidou Kolibauly, who is strongly linked with an exit this summer.
Vertonghen has been serving the North London outfit since 2012, appearing for more than 200 games. He was crucial behind the Spurs’ fairy tale run in the Champions League last term, putting a solid display against Dortmund and his former club Ajax.
However, Jose Mourinho, Spurs’ manager, wants the Belgian international to extend his stay at the North London club alongside his compatriot Toby Alderweireld, who recently signed a new three-year extension.
The former Ajax star was also previously linked with Napoli’s fellow Italian club, Inter Milan.
Spurs are currently sixth in the Premier League table after suffering two defeats and a draw in their last six games.
