North London to provide sanctuary for mis-firing Piatek
North London to provide sanctuary for mis-firing Piatek
Harry Kane's latest injury problems could prove to be an invaluable lifeline for one of Europe's out of form front men. Reports both in England and Italy claim that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing Polish marksman Krzysztof Piatek to the Premier League, to provide cover for the England captain who will be sidelined until April with a hamstring injury.
12 months ago, 24-year-old Piatek was the toast of Europe having had a blistering start to life in Serie A with Genoa, which prompted AC Milan to part with 38 million euros to secure his services. After a promising start to life at the San Siro however, the wheels suddenly came off the Piatek juggernaut, with the player having only scored four times in Serie A so far this season - three of these having come from the penalty spot. The recent arrival of former Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovich, has only heightened speculation that the Polish international's time in the peninsula may be coming to an end.
According to Friday morning's Sun newspaper, a £28M deal has already been put in place as Spurs try to steel a march on other suitors such as Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United. The paper suggests that Piatek will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours before putting pen to paper on a three and a half year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
