Why Chelsea won't sign Edinson Cavani from PSG
Chelsea have reportedly bowed out of the race to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain after getting to know of the striker's wage and signing-on fee demands.
The Uruguayan has handed in a transfer request at Parc des Princes this month and he is expected to head through the exit door before the transfer window closes.
The Blues have been highlighted as one of the sides interested in signing the former Napoli man but ESPN claims that they are unlikely to follow up the initial interest.
Les Parisiens are willing to sell Cavani for around £15m with his contract expiring in the summer but the Blues have been put off by the player's staggering wage demands of £360,000-a-week.
The 32-year-old would also command a significant signing-on fee and that would prove a huge gamble for the Blues, considering the marksman has struggled with form and fitness concerns this term.
Chelsea are scheduled to host Arsenal in the Premier League tonight.
