Barcelona plan surprise move for Chelsea target
According to Goal.com, Barcelona have entered the transfer race for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who is being closely watched by Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea.
The report states that the Catalans are ready to battle the Premier League duo for the 23-year-old German, who is also on the transfer agenda of bitter rivals Real Madrid.
Werner has been excellent in Bundesliga this season, currently topping the goal-scoring charts with 20 goals alongside Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski.
The German ace has been widely speculated to make a summer exit, with January move looking implausible.
Barca are currently in the transfer market for a striker due to the potential long-term absence of Luis Suarez.
Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is said to be on the top of the Catalans’ wishlist, but the Argentine reportedly holds a release clause around £100million.
Quique Setien led the Blaugrana to 1-0 win against Granada in his first game in charge. Barca will play Valencia at Mestalla this Saturday.
