Chelsea make move to sign South American striker?

Chelsea have reportedly proposed to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain on loan for the rest of the current campaign.

The 32-year-old has recently handed in a transfer request and he is expected to part ways with Les Parisiens before the end of the month.

According to The Times, the Blues have made contact with Les Parisiens for the player and they are keen on negotiating a short-term loan deal.

The west London side are prepared to meet the striker's £360,000-a-week wages demands while paying an additional £5m loan fee but it is unclear whether Les Parisiens will accept the proposal.

Cavani has less than six months remaining on his current contract with the French champions and reports have indicated that they would prefer the permanent sale of the Uruguayan.

They have apparently set a £23m asking price for the experienced campaigner and are confident that they will be able to sanction his permanent exit amid the strong interest from Atletico Madrid among others.
