Barcelona identify La Liga starlet as Luis Suarez replacement
Barcelona have identified Valencia striker Rodrigo as one of the potential replacements for Luis Suarez, according to ESPN.
The report also adds that Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also on Barca’s radar. The 30-year-old has a contract running until 2021.
Rodrigo continues to thrive in La Liga as he has bagged 2 goals and 8 assists so far this season. He was also influential behind Valencia’s qualification to the knock-outs in UCL with 2 goals and 2 assists in the group stages.
The Spaniard also scored the winning goal against Ajax in the final matchday of UCL which in turn ensured their place in the round of 16.
However, it is understood that Barca could find it hard to get the services of the 28-year-old as Valencia will try to get hold of their star player in the current transfer window.
Barca are currently in desperate search of a striker after the season-ending injury to Suarez, and they are also keen on avoiding kneejerk signings like Kevin-Prince Boateng, who they signed in the previous season.
Quique Setien also revealed that the Blaugrana are considering signing a new striker in January.
