Arsenal's move for Pablo Mari collapses?

Pablo Mari news

Arsenal yet to agree deal for Mari

Arsenal could reportedly miss out on the signing of Pablo Mari following a disagreement with Flamengo over the transfer package.

It was widely anticipated that the centre-back would join the club on loan with the option to buy but Flamengo appear keen on a permanent deal this month.

According to The Mail, the Spaniard has undergone a medical with the north London side but he has now returned to Brazil for the pre-season training with Flamengo.

It is added that the Brazilian champions won't accept a loan proposal for the defender and the Gunners will need to meet the £7m price tag to land Mari's signature before the end of the month.

The Gunners have made no signings during the transfer window but Arteta has recently stated that the club are looking to improve the squad in a few positions.

The club are not in a position to pay big for any of their transfer targets and they are said to be eyeing bargain or loan deals for players before the deadline on Friday.

Dani Ceballos has been tipped to terminate his loan deal to return to Real Madrid. Should the Spaniard part ways, the club could be tempted to sign a new central midfielder.
