Liverpool to sign German striker by April?

Timo Werner news

Werner to Liverpool?

Liverpool are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old has been in exemplary form for Leipzig his term and he has already contributed 25 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

The Reds have been regularly linked with a move for Werner in recent weeks and Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has now claimed that they are close to reaching an agreement to sign the former Stuttgart graduate.

Werner currently has a £48m buy-out clause which needs to be triggered by the end of April and it is reported that the Premier League leaders are ready to pay the fee.

Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the versatile forward but the Reds seem to be leading the race after opening discussions with Leipzig in advance.

Werner, who has earned 29 caps with the German national side, has recently hinted that he may push for a fresh challenge from Leipzig when the season concludes.
