Manchester United enter race to sign former Liverpool favourite
Manchester United have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian is currently on a loan stint with Bayern Munich from the Blaugrana where he has impressed with eight goals and six assists in the Bundesliga.
Despite this, the German outfit have no plans of triggering the buy option for the playmaker and Mundo Deportivo claims that the attacker is expected to return to the Camp Nou.
Chelsea have already been credited with an interest in signing the former Liverpool man and reports claim that the Red Devils may also make an approach for the 27-year-old.
United have improved their creativity in the final third with the mid-season signing of Bruno Fernandes but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears keen on recruiting another attacking midfielder.
Coutinho has generally preferred to play in the number 10 role but he has shown from his time at Liverpool and Barcelona that he can comfortably slot into a wide attacking position.
