Odion Ighalo desperate for Manchester United stay
Man Utd's on loan striker Odion Ighalo is hopeful that he can extend his stay at Old Trafford in to next season, after seeing his spell cut short at the club due to the coronavirus. Ighalo, formerly of Watford, had been brought in to fill a gap in United's attacking line and has so far caught the eye with a few impressive performances.
The powerful Nigerian international striker is on loan at United from a Chinese club, and it is understood that he could be available for a permanent transfer for a fee of around $10 million.
Shanghai Shenhua currently pay Ighalo close to 280,000 USD per week and United are paying approximately half of that salary at this time. It is understood that Ighalo doesn't want to return to China and is confident that a deal can be agreed between his agent and United's club representatives.
Ighalo's contract with Shanghai Shenhua expires in 2021 and it is understood the player has no interest in extending his current deal there, with a plan to exit prior to the expiry of that deal.
