German champions Bayern Munich could offer stiff competition to Manchester United in the race to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The England international has been fancied to return to his home country this summer and reports have claimed that United are the favourites to land his services.

However, a report from ESPN claims that they could face stiff competition from Bayern, who have made initial enquiries to Dortmund regarding the player's availability.

The transfer valuations of different players have plummeted with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic but Dortmund are adamant that they won't sell Sancho for anything less than £100m.

It is unclear whether either Bayern or United can afford the sum when the transfer window reopens during the summer. The Bundesliga champions are said to have identified Sancho as an alternative option to Leroy Sane.

Sane has been regularly linked with the club over the past 18 months but they have yet to convince Manchester City to sanction his sale. The Cityzens want at least £70m for the attacker, whose contract expires next summer.
