United boss wants a new centre-back

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly made it a priority to sign a new centre-back during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have been tipped to make a number of signings during the off-season despite the financial impact resulting from the coronavirus outbreak.

Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund has been regularly mentioned as the prime target with United said to be keen on pursuing a right-sided winger.

However, a report from The Express, the priority for United lies elsewhere and Solskjaer is eager to sign a new central defender ahead of next season.

Kalidou Koulibaly appears a viable choice at the moment but the club face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Senegal international could be available for a fee between £44m and £62m as Napoli are keen on reducing their wage bill during the summer.

The Serie A outfit appear likely to miss out on Champions League football next term and that has been highlighted as one of the primary reasons behind the decision to cash in on their prized asset.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been the regular pairing for United in the central defence this term but reports claim that Solskjaer has concerns over the latter's performances.
