Upamecano set for Arsenal move?

Arsenal are understood to have won the race to sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig during this summer's transfer window.

The 21-year-old's current deal with Leipzig expires in June 2021 and it is widely reported that he has a £53m release clause in his contract.

So far, there has been no official bid for the player but Tuttosport claims that the Gunners have agreed a deal in principle to sign the Frenchman.

AC Milan are said to have recently made an enquiry for the player but they were informed by Leipzig that the centre-back will move to the Emirates.

The Gunners are currently in a tight financial situation and it has been claimed that they could rely on free transfer and loan deals this summer.

Still, they have been linked with a number of high-profile players including Upamecano whom they failed to sign prior to the start of the current season.

Upamecano has made 25 appearances in the Bundesliga this season but he was absent for Leipzig's recent 2-0 win at Hoffenheim due to a suspension.
