Frank Lampard speaks on Timo Werner signing
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has heaped praise on the qualities of Timo Werner and believes the German will have a big impact on the club's performances next season.
The 24-year-old has been in superb form for RB Leipzig this term and he has bagged 32 goals and 12 assists from 42 appearances across all competitions.
Werner has another two league games to play for the Bundesliga outfit and he is thereafter expected to head to London for a series of medical tests.
Speaking prior to the Aston Villa game, Lampard said that he is excited to work with the marksman with whom he has already spoken via a phone call.
He added that the German fits into the profile of player the club were looking at and could have a key role for play for the Blues next term.
"I did speak to Timo, and he was excited, which is great. I'm certainly excited to have him here. He's the type of player and type of profile we're looking at, who can come here and have a big impact, hopefully," he was quoted as saying by Goal.com.
Chelsea are fourth in the league standings with 48 points on the board. They will be aiming to strengthen their grip on the final Champions League spot when they face Aston Villa on the road on Sunday.
