Liverpool make opening bid for Kalidou Koulibaly
Liverpool have reportedly submitted an opening bid of £58m for Kalidou Koulibaly, but the offer is set to be rejected by Napoli.
The Reds are likely to restrict their spending for the summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus shutdown, but they have still been linked with a number of high-profile players.
Koulibaly has been one of the names regularly linked with the Reds in recent weeks and Corriere dello Sport claims that the club have offered around £58m to sign the Senegal international.
However, their package is still short of Napoli's £90m asking price for the central defender and the Serie A outfit are unlikely to sanction his sale to the Merseyside outfit.
Koulibaly has struggled with thigh issues during the current campaign, but he has still made 23 appearances for Napoli across all competitions. The centre-back recently helped the club win their first trophy since 2014.
The Naples outfit lifted the Coppa Italia title against Juventus last week after they beat the Bianconeri on penalties following a 0-0 draw. Koulibaly played through the entire 90 minutes of normal time.
