Liverpool interested in signing Bayern Munich star

Liverpool are reportedly considering a summer move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who is said to favour a fresh challenge next season.

The Spain international has been a key player in the centre of the park for the Bavarian giants this term and he has bagged three goals and two assists from 35 appearances.

His current deal with the German champions expires at the end of next season and Bild claims that he is set to decline an extension in order to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp remains a keen admirer of the midfielder's talents and it is claimed that the Merseyside outfit could make an approach to sign the former Barcelona man.

Bayern are likely to command a fee of around £30m and it remains to be seen whether the Reds can afford the sum amid concerns over the financial impact of the coronavirus shutdown.

Liverpool recently secured a comfortable 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at home. They could be crowned as the Premier League champions tonight, should Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.
