Manchester United interested in Thiago Alcantara?

Manchester United could reportedly compete with Liverpool in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer.

The Spaniard has declined to sign a new contract with the German champions beyond June 2021, and he is expected to leave the club at the end of the current season.

The Reds have yet to make any formal approach to sign the 29-year-old, but reports have claimed that they have already made contact with the player's representative.

However, it appears that they could face competition in the form of the Red Devils, who are aiming to recruit another creative midfielder ahead of next season, BILD reports.

Thiago has made 230 appearances for the Bundesliga holders and he has bagged 31 goals and 34 assists in the process. Bayern are likely to demand around £35m in order to part ways with his services.

Manchester United are currently fifth in the Premier League standings. They are just two points adrift of Chelsea in the pursuit of the final Champions League spot.
