Frank Lampard praises Olivier Giroud after FA Cup semi-final win
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Olivier Giroud after the Frenchman contributed to the club's 3-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.
The Blues had lost their previous three meetings against the Red Devils this term but they came up with a much better display at the Wembley where they dominated the proceedings.
Giroud had gone into the game with goals in each of his previous three starts and he continued the good run of form by opening the scoring before the half-time break.
Eventually, the west London side registered a comfortable 3-1 victory over their Premier League rivals and Lampard was pleased for Giroud, who has been able to stake a claim for a regular starting role with his consistent displays this year.
"He sets an amazing example. At the beginning of the season, Tammy was playing well and Oli didn’t have many opportunities. He kept training. In January he could have left, he had the most positive attitude possible," He told via Football.London.
Giroud will get to face his former club Arsenal in the final of the FA Cup on August 1. Prior to that, however, the Blues have a couple of key Premier League games against Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their top-four bid.
