Chelsea planning ambitious attempt to sign Barcelona star
Chelsea are considering a surprise move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen with manager Frank Lampard considering a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Arrizabalaga has been the Blues' first-choice shot-stopper since his club-record move from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, but he has received plenty of criticism from the fans for his low save percentage.
Ahead of next season, the club are mulling over a change and Sport claims that Ter Stegen is one of the top names on their radar to replace the Spaniard between the sticks.
Ter Stegen has less than two years remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou and the Blues are hopeful of convincing the Blaugrana into sanctioning his sale in the next transfer window.
The Blues currently have no permanent offers on the table for Arrizabalaga but they could be prepared to loan him out for next season with interest from former side Athletic and Valencia.
Arrizabalaga is likely to start in goal when Chelsea face Liverpool on the road on Wednesday. The Blues would ensure their place in next season's Champions League if they come up with three points.
