Mikel Arteta speaks on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangs contract situation

Arteta pretty confident of Aubameyang deal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that he is pretty confident that club-captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a long-term contract.

The Gabon international was instrumental to the Gunners' FA Cup success last term as he scored braces in the semi-final and final of the competition.

Earlier last week, ESPN confirmed that Aubameyang had agreed a three-year deal worth £250,000-a-week deal and an announcement is on the horizon.

Nothing of that sort has happened to date, but ahead of the Community Shield clash against Liverpool, Arteta said that he is confident that the marksman will commit his long-term future to the club.

"I keep being positive. We have had some really good talks with him and his agent and I am pretty confident that we're going to find an agreement soon. That's my feeling again," He told via Arsenal.com.

Aubameyang bagged 29 goals during the course of the previous campaign and the last of those was the winning strike in the 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

The 31-year-old has refused to provide any hint regarding a possible contract extension and recently stated that he has yet to receive any papers during an Instagram Live session.
