United end Grealish interest

Manchester United have ended their pursuit of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish following the purchase of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

Grealish was heavily fancied to join the Red Devils earlier this summer, but they were put off by the £80m price tag set by Villa.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side recently made the decision to sign Van de Beek for £40m from Ajax and that has formally ended their interest in Grealish.

According to Sky Sports News, the Mancunian giants were interested in the Villa captain, but he was deemed too expensive for their liking.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked with a move for Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano, but are unlikely to make a bid for the centre-back.

The Frenchman only signed a three-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit in July and United are aware that Leipzig won't consider any offers for his services.

Still, they may pursue a new central defender and reports claim that AS Monaco's Benoit Badiashile is the prime target for Solskjaer.
