Thomas Partey wants Arsenal transfer?
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is reportedly keen on joining the Mikel Arteta revolution at Arsenal.
The Ghana international has been earmarked as the Gunners' prime midfield target, but they have yet to convince Atleti into a sale.
According to Goal.com, the 27-year-old is eager to link up with the north London side and he is excited with the prospect of working under Arteta.
So far, the Gunners have been unable to strike an agreement with Atleti, who are insistent that they won't sell him unless his £44.5m release clause is activated.
The club have tried to negotiate a player-plus-cash deal with Matteo Guendouzi acting as the makeweight, but the Spanish giants have rejected the proposal.
Diego Simeone's side hold an interest in signing Alexandre Lacazette, but they are unwilling to include Partey in a potential swap deal. Instead, they are prepared to offer either Thomas Partey or Angel Correa in exchange.
Arsenal have made two signings this summer in the form of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes. Arteta will need to accumulate funds from player sales to fund future signings.
