United won't hijack Spurs move for Bale

Manchester United are unlikely to hijack Tottenham Hotspur's move to re-sign Gareth Bale this summer.

The Wales international has been fancied to rejoin Spurs and reports have claimed that they are close to signing him on a permanent basis for around £18.5m.

United have also been credited with an interest in the wide attacker, but Manchester Evening News claims that they are unlikely to intervene Spurs' pursuit of the Welshman.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the former Southampton graduate, but they have never looked into a permanent deal for his services.

The club have identified Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho as the prime target to strengthen the attack, but so far, they have failed to strike a deal.

Dortmund are demanding a non-negotiable fee of £108m, but the Red Devils are reluctant to spend the sum amid the financial impact of COVID-19.

They are still in regular negotiations with the German giants, and it remains to be seen whether they can reach an agreement in the coming weeks.
