Lampard pleased with Mendy's impact at Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that he is pleased with the way Edouard Mendy has performed since his summer move from Rennes.

The Senegal international was the Blues' final signing of the recent transfer window and he has since cemented his spot as the first-choice goalkeeper.

Mendy has not had any difficult adapting to the Premier League unlike Kepa Arrizabalaga and he has already come up with a few top-notch saves.

In an interview covered by Chelsea's official website, Lampard hailed the goalkeeper's instant impact in the club's shirt, he told: "I’m so pleased with the way he’s started.

"He’s settled in really well, engaging, trains hard, wants to talk and make relationships with the players in front of him, so it’s been a really good start for him."

Mendy has been the undisputed choice in goal when fit and that has meant that Kepa has had to settle for a role on the substitutes' bench.

Kepa has not been picked in either the Champions League or Premier League games of late and there are suggestions that he could leave the club.
