Dean Henderson could leave on loan

Manchester United are reportedly open to the prospect of loaning out Dean Henderson during the backend of the campaign.

The 23-year-old has been promoted to the deputy goalkeeping role behind David de Gea this term after impressing on loan at Sheffield United over the past two years.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils will consider loaning out Henderson during the second half of the season such that he can receive regular first-team football.

Henderson has been told by England boss Gareth Southgate that he needs regular gametime in order to try and displace Jordan Pickford from the number one role with the Three Lions.

In case Henderson leaves on a temporary deal, Sergio Romero could be denied the opportunity to head through the exit door. The Argentine has been the club's back-up goalkeeper over the past five seasons.

He was completely excluded from the Premier League and Champions League squads last month, but he may return to contention in case Henderson pursues another loan move.
