Chelsea to extend Thiago Silva's contract?
Chelsea have reportedly opened discussions with defender Thiago Silva over a potential deal beyond the current campaign.
The Brazilian joined the Blues on a free transfer earlier this summer after declining to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
He had a disappointing debut in the 3-3 draw versus West Brom, but has since made a huge impact by helping the club keep multiple clean sheets.
According to Calciomercato, the Blues' hierarchy have been hugely impressed with Silva's displays and talks have already begun over a one-year extension.
Silva has turned out nine times for the west London giants this season and out of those, he has been undefeated with six shut-outs in the process.
He has formed a solid partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of the defence for the Blues, who were defensively average last term.
The Blues will host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. A victory could take them top of the league table, if other results go their way.
