Frank Lampard updates on Thiago Silva's contract

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that the club have the option of extending the contract of Thiago Silva for another year.
The Brazil international joined the Blues on a free transfer in the summer and he has since established himself as the first-choice centre-back.
He has formed a brilliant partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of the defence and has already become a fan favourite.
A recent report claimed that the Blues' hierarchy are keen to extend Silva's contract beyond June 2021 after being impressed with his displays.
When asked about the speculation, Lampard acknowledged that could be an option, given there is a 12-month extension clause on Silva's contract.
"I’ve seen the reports and yes, there’s an option in Thiago’s contract that we can look at as the season goes on," He told via Chelseafc.com
"He has an option to extend his deal and with the way he’s playing, I’m very happy with him and it’s something we will look at it."
Silva has drastically improved the club's defensive showing this term and they have conceded only 10 goals after nine games into the season.
The club are currently third on the league table with 18 points and could go top by the end of the week, should the other results go their way.
They are scheduled to host leaders Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
