Manchester United looking to sign ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender?
Manchester United have earmarked Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier as a potential candidate to fulfil the back-up role behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Wan-Bissaka has been the undisputed choice for the Red Devils in the right-back spot, but there are concerns over the futures of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot (currently on loan at AC Milan).
In case both players leave next summer, the club could pursue a replacement and The Telegraph reports that they may attempt to bring Trippier back to the Premier League.
Trippier has revived his career since his move away from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. He has made 48 appearances for Atletico across all competitions, contributing eight assists.
His current deal expires at the end of next season and the Spanish club may consider his sale, suppose there is a contract standoff. That appears unlikely to happen, given he has no reason to be disappointed.
Trippier has been the constant right-back for Atletico this term and he has played every minute. The Madrid giants are currently top of the La Liga table. They are just one point ahead of Real Sociedad, but have two games in hand.
