Pep Guardiola updates on Sergio Aguero's fitness ahead of derby
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has stated that Sergio Aguero won't start the derby against Manchester United on Saturday.
The Argentine made his first appearance since his hamstring injury in midweek where scored in a 23-minute cameo against Marseille in the Champions League.
That had led to suggestions that Aguero could lead the line for the Cityzens in the Manchester derby, but Guardiola has dismissed the prospects of that happening.
"No, Today, he played 25 minutes, scored a goal – so it is step by step," he said shortly after the club's 3-0 triumph over Marseille at the Etihad Stadium.
The Cityzens are currently seventh on the Premier League table with 18 points, one less than the Red Devils and six behind Tottenham Hotspur.
They, however, have a game in hand over Spurs and will be hoping to come victorious in the forthcoming Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
The club have an excellent league record at the stadium and they have won in six of the previous nine encounters.
