Ozil on his way to Istanbul?

Mesut Ozil could leave Arsenal in the coming days after agreeing a three-and-a-half year contract with Fenerbahce.

The German has fallen out-of-favour under manager Mikel Arteta and has not made a single appearance since March 2020.

He was excluded from both the Premier League and Europa League squads earlier this term and could be set for a permanent exit this month.

According to Turkish outlet DHA, Fenerbahce have agreed terms with Ozil and he could join them in the coming days.

Ozil's current deal expires in the summer, but the Gunners are willing to pay off the remainder of his contract to offload him.

DC United were also credited with an interest, but the 32-year-old has reportedly chosen Fenerbahce with his desire to stay in Istanbul.

The 2014 World Cup winner appears set to leave the Gunners after contributing 44 goals and 77 assists from 254 appearances.

His reluctance to leave the Gunners has led to criticism from some fans, but it appears that his future could be decided in the next few days.
