Arsenal receive major injury boost ahead of Newcastle United clash
Arsenal have received an injury boost with Kieran Tierney likely to return for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
The Scotland international suffered a calf problem before the Crystal Palace game and it was initially suggested that he could be out for a while.
However, according to The Athletic, an MRI scan has shown that there is no muscle tear and he could return to action against the Magpies.
The 23-year-old has been a top performer for the Gunners in recent weeks and he has contributed one goal and three assists in his last four games.
In his absence, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka featured at left-back, but neither were able to create chances for the team on Thursday.
The Gunners played out a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace and that meant that they were unable to jump into the top half of the table.
The north London giants are currently 11th in the league standings with 24 points, eight behind the Champions League spots.
