Valencia won their seventh Copa Del Rey title after a superb 3-1 victory over Getafe at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday evening. The victory comes somewhat as a surprise for Los Che in a strange first season for boss Ronald Koeman.

Valencia couldn't have started much better with two goals in the first 10 minutes - and from there on in Getafe never had a chance of coming back. The two early goals for Valencia came from Juan Manuel Mata and Alexis.

The first was made by David Villa who knocked the ball wide to David Silva who put a superb ball in for Mata; who headed the ball home nicely.

Number two came in quick succession, this time from Alexis. A corner came in and Alexis headed the ball home; a disastrous start for the hopeful Getafe.

Getafe were trying to edge their way back into the game late into the first half but Valencia held them off valiantly.

It wasn't till after half time when Getafe finally scored; and the goal came from a spot kick. Up stepped Esteban Granero to smash the ball home to give Getafe a slight chance of a comeback.

Getafe battled away and for much of the second half looked like they would come back into the game - even hitting the crossbar - but Valencia held on.

Valencia finished the game off with about seven minutes to spare when Fernando Morientes picked up a loose ball from Getafe goalkeeper Oscar Ustari who was unable to handle a superb free kick from Ruben Baraja.
