Laudrup: Getafe tried their best

Getafe boss Michael Laudrup praised his young players despite failing to lift the Copa Del Rey trophy after losing 3-1 to Valencia; and the Danish boss said that his players had lack of experience in cup final situations.

"These encounters are special. In principle they are like the others, but sometimes players take too much notice of the occasion: we felt the importance of the match and the team were tense," he explained.

"Valencia scored from their first chance and then again with their second. With the players they have and the way they defended it was difficult for us. We reduced the deficit and in the second half we had two or three good chances, as well as some misfortune with Granero's effort. In the end Valencia won the game in the first fifteen minutes.

"Getafe is a modest side that in less than four years in the Primera Liga has reached two cup finals and played in the Uefa Cup. I do not see this as the final point because the club has demonstrated already that it can surpass itself."
