Man United, Chelsea want to sign £27m Serie A defender

Manchester United and Chelsea could go head-to-head to land the signature of Gianluca Mancini from AS Roma.

The 24-year-old joined Roma on a permanent basis from Atalanta last summer and has been in fine form with five goals from 27 outings.

According to The Express, the Serie A outfit may consider his sale this summer amid their financial troubles due to COVID-19.

Both United and Blues are keeping tabs on the situation and it is claimed that the Giallorossi could accept around £27m for the centre-back.

The Red Devils are eyeing a new defensive partner for Harry Maguire and Mancini is an option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Blues have looked defensively secure since Thomas Tuchel's arrival in January, but the German is likely to make his own signings.

There is speculation that Kurt Zouma could head for the exit door when the transfer window reopens in a few months' time.
