Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is prepared to pursue a fresh challenge away from the club this summer, ESPN reports.

The centre-back has played second fiddle to Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire for the past few seasons.

His current contract expires in less than 14 months, and ESPN claims that he has no plans of extending his stay.

Bailly feels he won't be able to become a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and sees his future elsewhere.

The Ivorian has been with the club for five years, but he has made just 100 appearances due to a series of injuries.

This has dropped him down the pecking order, and he is regarded as no more than a back-up defensive option.

Should United sell him this summer, he won't be short of offers with interest from multiple Serie A and La Liga clubs.

Bailly contracted coronavirus on international duty with Ivory Coast last month. He only returned to the club earlier this week.
