Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal to compete for Belgian forward?
Tottenham Hotspur could compete with Arsenal in the race to sign Dries Mertens during the summer transfer window.
Mertens has had another fine season for Napoli with nine goals and eight assists from 30 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 33-year-old could be offloaded this summer with the Serie A side keen to reduce their wage bill for next season.
According to Voetbal24, the Belgian is attracting interest from both Spurs and Gunners despite him being in the backend of his career.
Mertens, who is Napoli's all-time leading goalscorer, has bagged eight goals and seven assists from 21 league outings this term.
He has missed a number of matches due to a nagging ankle problem, but has still managed to make key contributions.
He was previously on the radar of Chelsea in 2020, but a move did not materialise as he decided to remain in Naples.
Mertens may relish the prospect of a new challenge in the Premier League.
