Chelsea planning contract talks with French midfielder
Chelsea are planning contract talks with midfielder N'Golo Kante following his impressive end to the 2020/21 season.
The Frenchman struggled for form earlier in the campaign, but he managed to redeem himself during the backend of the season.
Kante produced a number of standout performances, including one in the Champions League final win at the weekend.
According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues value Kante with high regard, and are due to hold contract talks.
Kante has two years left on his current £144,000-a-week contract. The club are expected to hand him a long-term deal with a pay rise.
Aside from Kante, negotiations are also planned with centre-back Antonio Rudiger, whose deal expires in 13 months' time.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has had his contract extended until 2023 after guiding the club to Champions League glory.
His existing deal was due to expire in June 2022. A 12-month extension clause was automatically triggered due to the European success.
