Chelsea plan contract talks with star midfielder

Kante set for new Chelsea deal

Chelsea are planning to hand a new long-term contract to midfielder N'Golo Kante, Fabrizio Romano claims.

The Frenchman was in superb form during the final months of last season as the Blues won the Champions League.

He has two years left on his contract with the Blues, but the hierarchy are keen to commit him to a long-term deal.

However, there is no rush to enter negotiations as the Blues have a great relationship with the midfielder.

They received two offers for the 30-year-old last summer, but decided to reject the proposals to keep hold of him.

Kante made a slow start last season, but found his feet during the back end of the season under Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel decided to rest Kante regularly for the league games which kept him fit and ready for the European matches.

He produced a man of the match display in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League final last month.
