Varane agrees personal terms with Manchester United

Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

Varane has just 12 months remaining on his contract, and he has been tipped to leave the Madrid giants.

United are his preferred destination, and The Daily Express claims that he has already agreed personal terms with them.

However, the clubs have yet to finalise the transfer fee. It could end up proving a stumbling block for the Red Devils.

The club recently spent £73.7 million to land Jadon Sancho, but they can't afford to spend big on another marquee signing.

They are reluctant to meet the £60m price tag for the World Cup winner, and negotiations could be prolonged due to this.

A swap deal could be an option. Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek are among the players that could be included in the deal.

Van de Beek came close to joining Madrid in 2019 before he stayed with Ajax. He joined United in the following summer.

The move has not worked out for him. It is claimed that Los Blancos could propose to sign him on loan with the option to buy.
