Chelsea enter the race for Saul Niguez?
Chelsea have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez this summer.
The Spain international was in-and-out of the starting line-up for Atletico last term, and he is no longer indispensable to them.
He has another five years left on his contract, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that he is expected to leave.
The club have already landed a replacement in Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese for a reported fee of around £35 million.
Atletico are prepared to cash in on Niguez for around £50 million as they look to ease some of their financial debts.
Liverpool have already made contact with Atletico, but the Blues have now joined in making an enquiry for the Spaniard.
The European champions have the midfield well covered with the presence of N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.
However, manager Thomas Tuchel wants more competition for places. He could switch to a three-man central midfield next season.
