Manchester City and Arsenal to compete for Swiss midfielder?
Arsenal and Manchester City could go head-to-head to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria this summer.
The Swiss returned from a serious knee injury last season, making 32 appearances in all competitions for the German outfit.
He has under 12 months left on his current deal, and it is claimed that Monchengladbach prefer to sell than lose him for free.
According to Tag24, both Gunners and City are keeping tabs on the Swiss, who is open to a fresh challenge away from Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with him, but the midfielder has the preference to join a new league.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of Zakaria. It was recently claimed that they could swap Granit Xhaka for his compatriot.
Xhaka appears on his way to Roma. The Gunners could use the funds recouped to make an approach for Zakaria.
Meanwhile, City are lining up a long-term replacement for Fernandinho. The 36-year-old recently penned a one-year extension.
