Arsenal star edging closer to Serie A transfer

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is close to securing his transfer to Roma, a report from Sky Sport Italy claims.

The Swiss has been heavily linked with the Giallorossi, and reports claim that he has already agreed personal terms.

The Serie A outfit have made an initial bid of around £11m, but the proposal has been rejected by the north London giants.

The Gunners are holding out for £17m for Xhaka, but Roma remain optimistic of signing him before the end of the month.

The club are unlikely to meet the price tag up front, but they plan to propose performance-based add-ons that are easily achievable.

Roma are scheduled to travel to Portugal for a training camp next week. Xhaka could make the move to the club by then.

The Gunners are looking into the future. They have already signed midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, and want another recruit.

They are interested in Sassuolo's Manuel Locatelli and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Ruben Neves. Both are valued at £35m.
