Arsenal confirm midfielder transfer to Premier League club
Arsenal have confirmed the departure of midfielder Joe Willock to Newcastle United on a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old spent the back end of last season on loan with the Magpies, registering eight goals from 14 league outings.
Steve Bruce was desperate to re-sign him earlier this summer, and the Magpies have eventually landed his services permanently.
The club have paid a fee of around £20m up front. Willok has not been registered in time for their opening league game.
He is expected to make his debut against Aston Villa next week.
Meanwhile, the Magpies could make more signings this month. They are eyeing a new centre-back and defensive midfielder.
Liverpool's Nathaniel Phillips and Manchester United's Phil Jones have been linked with possible moves to the club this summer.
Bruce is a huge admirer of the latter. Jones has two years left on his contract, but could be released by the Red Devils by mutual consent.
