Mohamed Elneny's move to Galatasaray was blocked
Arsenal reportedly failed to sell Mohamed Elneny to Galatasaray due to the midfielder's hefty wage demands.
Elneny has entered the final year of his Gunners deal, and it has recently been reported that he could move to Turkey.
According to Milliyet, Galatasaray made a proposal to sign the midfielder on a free transfer earlier this week.
While the Gunners were willing to release him, Gala president Burak Elmas vetoed the move to sign Elneny.
Elneny reportedly demanded a salary of €10m for four seasons alongside a signing-on bonus of around €5m.
The demands proved excessive for the Istanbul giants. Elmas personally intervened to pull the plug on the deal.
Elneny could yet make the switch to Turkey. Besiktas are keen on re-signing him following his loan spell in 2019/2020.
They will need to act fast as the Turkish transfer window closes on September 8. Sead Kolasinac has also been linked.
Arsenal are unlikely to receive transfer fees for either player.
