Aston Villa to make fresh move for Tottenham Hotspur target
Arsenal will make a renewed approach to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie during the January transfer window.
The USA international was on their radar last month, but they did not have sufficient time to negotiate his transfer.
The Bianconeri wanted a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but Villa were unwilling to commit to such an agreement.
According to The Sun, the west Midlands outfit will return for McKennie when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
McKennie was purchased from Schalke for €20m last year. The Bianconeri are open to selling him permanently for around €25m.
Aside from Villa, Tottenham were also heavily linked with the 23-year-old, and could offer stiff competition in the player's pursuit.
Spurs proposed a swap involving Tanguy Ndombele, but it was rejected.
With their inability to offload Ndombele, they decided against a new midfield signing as they needed to recoup funds first.
Ndombele is out of contenton under Nuno Espirito Santo. He could be offloaded in January before the club return for McKennie.
