Van de Beek to leave in January?

The agent of Donny van de Beek has confirmed that talks were held with the Everton's hierarchy over a summer move.

The Netherlands international has struggled to secure regular game time since his switch to Manchester United last summer.

He was linked with a loan exit before deadline day. Agent Guido Albers has now confirmed that there was contact with the Toffees.

However, a deal was never on the cards. While his client wanted to leave, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United declined the proposal.

He said Ziggo Sport: "We had conversations with Solskjaer and the board. We took the initiative to find a club, and our search ended up at Everton. We opened talks with Marcel Brands and Farhad Moshiri."

"On Monday night [August 30], we received a call from Solskjaer and the club who told us that a transfer was out of the question and that he had to report himself to training the next morning."

Van de Beek has endured a dismal time with the Red Devils. He has played just over 500 minutes of Premier League football to date.

His situation appears unlikely to improve any time soon. His lack of game time has recently cost him his place with the national team.

He could push for an exit when the transfer window reopens unless he starts playing under Solskjaer. He has been an unused substitute this term.
