West Ham United to return for Jesse Lingard?

Jesse Lingard news

West Ham to try again for Lingard in January?

West Ham United could return for Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard during the next transfer window.

Lingard impressed for the Hammers on loan earlier this year, registering nine goals and six assists across all competitions.

The east London outfit were keen on re-signing him permanently, but Lingard made the decision to stay with the Red Devils.

The 28-year-old has only 10 months remaining on his contract, and there are no talks planned over a possible new deal.

Lingard is determined to fight for his place at the club, but he faces stiff competition to break into the starting line-up.

Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are all vying for the wide attacking roles.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes is an undisputed starter in the number 10 spot.

Lingard's prospects of regular game time are slim. It is suggested that the Hammers could push for a cut-price deal in January.

The forward will be assessing his future in the coming months. It remains to be seen whether he will consider rejoining the Hammers.

Everton have also been credited with an interest in signing him.

With the World Cup coming up next year, Lingard may need to leave United to secure regular minutes to boost his selection prospects.
