Thomas Tuchel confirms Callum Hudson-Odoi was denied move
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Callum Hudson-Odoi was denied a loan move to Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Hudson-Odoi has struggled for regular minutes with the Blues. He was linked with a late loan switch to Dortmund last month.
However, the Blues were never expected to sanction the deal, and Tuchel has now confirmed that a move was 'impossible'.
While Hudson-Odoi wanted to join Dortmund, Tuchel said that it was a fairly easy decision to keep the graduate at the club.
Hudson-Odoi prefers to play on the left-wing, but he can't do so with Tuchel's 3-4-2-1 formation with two attacking midfielders.
Hence, he has operated from the right wing-back position. He was handed a start against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
His game time could be limited. It is likely that he will drop to the bench when the Blues return to Champions League action in midweek.
They are scheduled to host Zenit St Petersburg. Reece James is widely expected to start in the right wing-back position.
